The Brain learns by subtraction

Alessandro
Good Movement organisation is achieved by subtraction. The subtraction happens in our brain and the level of subtraction achieved is what distinguish highly skilled athletes and performers 🤸‍♂️🤾🏃‍♂️🎻💃👨‍🎤🎷 It all begins when a baby begins to explore his surroundings. In a normal development the movement that allow to reach a toy, or to bring the hand to the mouth are retained, the others are removed. In the brain, this phenomenon is known as pruning 🧠👨‍🌾🌱. The connections that are used are maintained and reinforced, the ones that are not used die ☠️☠️. It seems crazy but: 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 ℎ𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐭ℎ𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 in the womb are deleted 𝐰𝐢𝐭ℎ𝐢𝐧 𝐭ℎ𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. Like the words in the picture, they need to be deleted to reach the meaning. The connections maintained affect how we move and orient into the world, how we perceive the others.. safe/dangerous good/bad 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞. Trauma make us feel constantly threatened, fearful and dis-regulated 😱😨🫨 😔😩. Trauma cultivates the connections that we would like to prune... How do we get out of this? We need to adopt the brain language. A language of sensations and movement. We need to discover and integrate again the internal sensations of pleasure and safety.
